Joondalup Kinross 7 – 185 (Higgins 2-27, Callaghan 2-40, Ranford 2-38) def by SDCC 8-197 (Rose 51, Brackenreg 41, James 37)
Lost the toss. Bowling. Ouch, hot! Niall and Ranford started beautiful in trying conditions and were well supported by Hoppy and Gav. A slow start turned into a fast finish, which was not unexpected. We were super hot and happy to get off the ground. Roy started beautifully and takes the pressure off the rest of us. Bravo. Flynn in his first 40/40 match in A grade, timed his innings perfectly. An A grade fifty and against last year’s premier is no small feat. Mickey James was great support in the middle overs and left very little to do for our lower order in the last 4 overs. Great win! Three wins before the break with lots of two day cricket to come!!

We batted first after winning the toss against Joondalup-Kinross, though it quickly feeling like 'Groundhog Day', as similar to round 8's game against Ossie Park, had lost our first 5 batters with the score under 60. Watto did well to get to 20, whereas the rest of the top 6 made starts but failed to go on with it. Continuing the deja-vous, good contributions came from the lower order with Cam Mc (29), finally finding some form and together with Sharpey (30) and the tail guided us to 151 all out and something to bowl at. Loch George getting his first diamond duck, run out without facing a ball!!
Loch (2 wickets) and Connor (unlucky not to have a couple himself) started off well opening the bowling, keeping the scoring down early and with Watto getting a breakthrough right on drinks, JK were 3/49. After the break they kept up the run rate required and eventually Sharpey snaffled a superb caught & bowled to remove their danger man, and the rest of the batters didn't have much in the tank after being in the field earlier, and Herbert (2 wkts), Cam (1 wkt) and myself capturing a couple as well to leave them 30 runs short and our 6th one-day win on the trot and secure a final birth. Another fighting win after the start we had. Need the top six to contribute a few more runs and not leaving it to the lower order, which in many games has come up with the chocolates! Here's to a renewed push towards the business end of the season.
